Mt. Washington

Who we are and what we play

We are a string ensemble located in the Mount Washington Valley, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We have been playing together since 2006 for weddings (prelude and ceremony only) special ceremonies, memorial services, private parties, corporate functions, grand openings, community events, and fundraisers. Our music of light classics, and old favorites promises to please and add a touch of class to your special event.
We can offer you a violin duet, or a soloist (violin or voice). We can also offer you a violin string trio or quartet, subject to availability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What kinds of events do you play for?
A. We specialize in weddings, but also play for private parties, special fundraisers, and corporate functions.

Q. When you play for weddings, when do you play and for how long?
A. We play while guests arrive (prelude) approximately 20-30 minutes, followed by ceremony music which includes the processional music for the bridal party, bride, and recessional.

Q. Do you play outside?
A. Yes, outside weddings are our specialty. We are happy to play for any event out doors. We do request full shade and protection from precipitation to protect our instruments.
(Please note that due to cooler temperatures, outdoor weddings after Columbus Day Weekend are not desirable for our musicians or our instruments unless outdoor heaters are provided.)

Q. What about church weddings?
A. Yes, we play in churches or other indoor venues.

Q. Will I have a contact person?
A. Yes, one of the ensemble members will be continually in touch with you from the time you contact us until your special day and help you with music selections. You are free to call or e-mail us at any time.

Q. Do you need electricity?
A. No, we do not. Our only requirement is three straight
backed chairs (no arms), and protection from the sun and precipitation.

Q. How do you dress?
A. We dress in all black, or black and white.
Dress may vary for less formal events.

Q. Do you need to attend the wedding rehearsal?
A. It is really not necessary for us to attend the wedding rehearsal. We are very adept at timing the music to the right length. As long as we can meet with either the officiant or wedding planner just prior to the ceremony we will be all set.

Q. How far in advance should I call to book the quartet?
A. The sooner the better. We require a deposit to secure the date. The balance is due approximately 2 weeks prior to the event. Dates are reserved on a "first come, first served" basis.
(We will hold the date upon inquiry but cannot guarantee the date until it is secured with a deposit.) However, don't hesitate to call on short notice. There have been times when we've been able to accommodate even very late bookings.

Q. How far will you travel?
A. Up to approximately 70 miles from North Conway. Willing to negotiate anything beyond 70 miles.
